At Rockdale, we believe every child has the power to CREATE. Through Collaboration, Rigor, Empathy, Arts, Talents, and Engagement, we build a joyful community where the arts and academics come together to inspire learning. Students at Rockdale explore visual arts, music, drama, and dance in every grade level, while also connecting the arts to their daily studies. Our students’ success is measured not only by grades or test scores, but also by their confidence, creativity, and kindness. At Rockdale VAPA Magnet, every subject is taught with care, creativity, and high expectations. We’re proud to provide a well-rounded education where students thrive as learners, artists, and compassionate community members.

Our Mission

At Rockdale Visual and Performing Arts Magnet, we believe every child holds unlimited potential. Our mission is to nurture that potential by engaging students in the creative process and empowering them to CREATE—through Collaboration, Rigor, Empathy, Arts, Talents, and Engagement.

We are committed to building the whole child by blending artistic expression with academic excellence. In addition to cultivating a passion for the visual arts, vocal music, drama, and dance—each taught as distinct disciplines at every grade level—we also integrate the arts across core subjects. This ensures that students not only experience creativity but also learn math, science, social studies, and literacy with greater depth, rigor, and joy.

Research shows that the arts foster both academic achievement and social-emotional growth, and at Rockdale VAPA Magnet we see this every day in our classrooms. Our students learn to think critically, solve problems, and collaborate, while developing confidence, empathy, and resilience.

By weaving the arts with a standards-based curriculum, we create a dynamic learning environment where students are challenged, inspired, and prepared to succeed in school and beyond.
